The global economy’s peaks and troughs have shaped Michael’s 30+-year career, during which time he has specialised in commercial litigation and insolvency.
As a partner for a mid-tier firm during the 1990s recession, he conducted recovery and enforcement proceedings for institutional and commercial clients and insolvency practitioners. Michael then became solicitor-director for two incorporated legal practices associated with private equity and a public company. Both roles entailed managing volume litigation and incorporated strategic and operational management responsibilities.
Following the GFC, Michael was intrinsically involved in the failed agricultural managed investment scheme litigation. For over a decade, he was responsible for a high-volume, high-value loan recovery portfolio, where he utilised his banking and commercial dispute acumen to resolve highly complex claims.
Michael enjoys sharing his passion for law and reflecting on methods of best practice when mentoring young lawyers. Over the years, many have kept in touch to update him on their career progress, but not for his dad jokes.
