Your questions answered

Who can bring a domestic building dispute claim?

Any party to a building contract can bring a claim that another party has breached the contract. Parties involved can include homeowners, builders and subcontractors.

In our experience, most disputes revolve around the inadequate quality of the work, changes to the scope of the work and failure to pay for work done.

Can you review my domestic building work contract?

We typically only review building contracts when there is a dispute, usually after the contract has been signed. We don't typically review building contracts before they are signed.

If you have a dispute, we will review your building contract to ensure we fully understand your situation.

How can I prove that the work done on my building is faulty?

We employ third-party engineers and assessors to gather evidence of faulty work or defective materials. The independent assessors will then provide us with a detailed report of their findings and their word on whether they have found breaches of Australian Standards.

If we escalate your dispute to a governing regulatory body, such as the VBA or VCAT, their dispute resolution officer may make a call on the quality of the work done.
